For this month's technical, we are very fortunate to host the renowned Arlan Harris of the New York City Chapter PTG. Arlan has previously given other extraordinary classes to our chapter, and his new presentation will be one not to be missed.

We all seem to draw a line when we feel the work has been completed and at a satisfactory level. Arlan shows how to “Raise the bar” and will demonstrate and explain how to bring your personal threshold to a higher level. The benefits are increased self-esteem, income, respect, and joy in striving for enabling the piano to be the best it can be. A handout is provided for all participants. Concepts, theories, business advise, and demonstrations with a Q/A session included!

Arlan has over 30 years experience as a piano technician. Formerly of Steinway & Sons in New York, Arlan worked in the well-known basement of Steinway Hall in the 80's, then worked as a liaison for Steinway & Sons as an independent contractor for 12 years as a Concert Piano Technician, Educator, Troubleshooter in Latin and South America. He has worked in the majority of major venues as well as serving artists and tours. Arlan was the Director of Technical Division for Faust Harrison Pianos for 6 years and Director of Technical Division and Concert/Artist Services with Klavierhaus for three years. He regularly assists concerts and recordings in New York City and frequents major venues such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and Town Hall. Arlan combines “in the trenches” knowledge and experience combined with a holistic approach to solving problems using a wide variety of tools and techniques. A few of the many artists Arlan has worked with include: Lang Lang, Ivgenni Kissen, Oscar Peterson, Chick Corea, Angela Hewitt, James Levine, Louis Lortie, Yuja Wang etc… Arlan is currently owner of Arlan Harris Pianos and Atelier and Arlan Harris Productions.

The Executive Committee will meet prior to the general meeting at 5 p.m. at the Majestic Diner, 498 Old Country Road, opposite Fortunoff's.
