Piano guild meeting Nov.8 at Frank and Camille"s. Mike Slavin called the meeting to order at 7 PM. Six members present.

There was a discussion about our fund monies. The issue has been resolved.

Alan Schumacker presented the technical on soundboard repair on vertical pianos. Alan demonstrated how to fix a crack in the soundboard. He uses half a dowel with screw holes cut in length to cover the rib. Drop some titebond glue in the rib and then tighten the dowel screws to pull the soundboard crack close to the rib. If the crack is very long put a half dowel with screws on each rib above the crack. When everyting is dry and tight, remove the dowel and the fix is complete. Alan told us a story about a buzzing piano and how he went about fixing it. The discussion continued about the pros and cons with this method of repair.
