A meeting of the Long Island Nassau Chapter, PTG was held on November 9, 2010, at Frank and Camille’s Keyboard Center located on Old Country Road in Carle Place. Five chapter members and four guests attended.

President Slavin called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

Minutes for the October 12, 2010 meeting were accepted as corrected.

The treasurer reported on the chapter’s finances.

• The December holiday dinner will be held at Tesoro Ristorante, located on Old Country Road in Westbury.
• David Kirkland of Steinway & Sons is scheduled to be our guest speaker at the January 11, 2011 meeting. Our February 8, 2011 meeting will be held at the Cavalieri Finishing Company in Amityville. A representative from Wessel, Nickel, and Gross will be our guest speaker for the April meeting.

Lee Dobrins raised the subject of merging the L. I. Christofori Chapter and the L. I. Suffolk Chapter with the L. I. Nassau Chapter to form one large Guild chapter for Long Island. After some discussion on the matter, it was suggested that Lee discuss the matter with members of the other chapters to see if he could get a consensus. The business meeting ended at 7:11 PM.

The evening’s guest speaker was Dick Dante, a member of the L.I. Christofori Chapter. The lecture was focused primarily on dogs, the strength of their bite, what to do if bitten by one, and the consequences for the dog. Mr. Dante also related problems he had with pets belonging to his piano tuning customers and his solutions. Other people in attendance also shared their stories regarding customers’ pets.
