Proposed Minutes of the September Meeting
by Marty Dinerstein - Secretary

The 9/22/2008 meeting started at 7 p.m. with eight members and four guests. Two of the guests were prospective members. The secretary and treasurer's reports were read and accepted. Old business: Lee Dobrins showed us a thinner front rail punching that would make the touch more sensitive. New Business: Chris Solliday our RVP is coming in October. He suggested several topics that he could discuss and the chapter voted to have him discuss how PTG materials could help us. We discussed the change in the business because of the low priced pianos that are being sold and the fact that the tuner is usually not consulted in their selection. It was suggested that we promote ourselves by talking to the clients about the reasons for tuning on a regular basis. It was also suggested that we contact teachers to involve them in the selection and care of pianos. It was also suggested that we show the clients magazine articles about pianos to help them understand the need for proper care and the differences in quality of low end pianos vs. mid-priced ones. We also said we would arrange for testing of our two prospective members and Alex Kostakis volunteered his shop for the test. The meeting ended at 9 p.m.
