Highlights of 2006 Council Meeting
1. The chapter's request for a name change was debated in Council. Delegates spoke for and against the chapter changing its name to the Nassau-Juhn Chapter, PTG. Everyone who had something to say was given an opportunity to address the Council. Most, if not all, who spoke, knew Ernie personally and had the greatest respect for Ernie. The consensus of those who spoke against the proposal was that they felt that it was inappropriate to rename a chapter after an individual. In Ernie's case, since he had been a recipient of PTG's highest honor, the Golden Hammer, and also having been inducted into the PTG Hall of Fame, that there must be a better way to honor Ernie posthumously, than by naming the chapter after him, which would also set a precedent for other chapters to follow. The chapter request for a name change was denied by a majority vote of Council.
