A regular meeting of the Long Island Nassau Chapter, PTG was held on May 12, 2015, at Frank and Camille's Keyboard Center, 229 B Glen Cove Road, Carle Place, N.Y. The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by President Michael Slavin. Ten members were in attendance. Information about the June dinner party was announced.
The technical presentation was by Ruth Zeiner of Allied Piano, a comprehensive examination of the various generations of the Dampp-Chaser systems and the complete product line. There was a discussion about the 50 watt heater rod, and its advantages over the lower wattage heaters. The group was informed of the tech-friendly service at the Dampp-Chaser company, and advised to call about any problems or warranty issues. The class proceeded to examine all the different water tanks, and their history and development, followed by a full discussion of humidistats and their varying instructions and installation. Ruth then dealt with the recommended type of water and additive treatments to be used with the systems to ensure proper operation, and cleaning procedures when required.
The class concluded with member commenting on problems encountered in the field, depending on the type of piano and installation configuration. The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
