A Message From Michael Slavin, RPT

April is the month for our annual election of chapter officers. Please consider your selections for the upcoming year's slate of candidates. I wish to inform the chapter that after many years serving as president, I am retiring as a technician and stepping down from the office and other chapter duties. It has been an honor, and I am proud that during my tenure we have made many positive changes. We moved our meeting venue from a church choir room with one old upright piano, to piano dealerships with a large selection of new and used instruments, which afforded us the opportunity for better technicals and presentations by manufacturers' representatives. The original starting time of our monthly meetings used to be much later in the evening, which sometimes was inconvenient and ended quite late, which we moved up so that we could all be home at a decent hour. Our dinner parties were elevated from take-in sandwiches in the church basement, to wonderful gatherings in some very fine restaurants. When we were forced to adapt to the restrictions imposed recently by the Covid pandemic, we began holding Zoom meetings with superb technical presentations by renowned national experts. And finally, the chapter is solvent and in very sound financial shape (largely thanks to the legacy left by our previous "founding fathers" rebuilding projects). I wish good luck and success to all my friends and colleagues.

Following the passing last month of our member Lee Dobrins, his wife Malinda wishes to inform the chapter that Lee's extensive collection of tools and parts is available at no charge for anyone who wishes to pick up any or all of them. Malinda may be contacted at 631.697.7746. Included below are some photos of the large selection that is being offered.
