Topic: Recapping the Vertical Bass Bridge w/o Removing the Plate
Is having to pull the plate putting you off? Christian demonstrates an easy way to replace split bridge caps on uprights without using epoxy or other glues to fix bridge pin problems. Learn how to build a jig over the plate to remove the old cap and glue the new one on. This technique can also be applied to grand pianos.

Christian Bolduc Bio:
Christian Bolduc is a technician/bellyman specializing in soundboards and pinblocks. Following his studies at Ecole du Meuble de Victoriaville to become a fine cabinet and furniture maker, he spent a full year at the Schimmel factory in Braunschweig, Germany studying piano structure and design. His combined understanding of wood and design has made him an expert in his niche. He is a constant searcher for new ideas and methods to make your rebuilding projects easier. Jurgen Goering of Piano Forte supply in British Columbia presented the technical.
Jurgen was born in Canada but moved back to Germany at a young age. He learned the piano trade in Germany. His business specializes in felt and cloth for pianos. He next gave us a demo on how his felt is cut.
Next was shown a string setting tool. very ingenious device. Other quality voicing products were shown.

Side note: Many informative presentations are presented by the PTG home office through Zoom. Two of interest were Cyborg tuning, which had over 100 members zoomed in. The other was Verituner, given by its creator, Dave carpenter. Both very informative and useful.
When servicing the keyboard on the older Baldwin Hamilton, for such repairs as a broken keystick, rebushing, key level and dip, balance hole easing, etc., use your extendable tuning lever as a prop to keep the fallboard up and out of the way.
