Always mark a repair that you have completed with a chalk mark or some other indicator on the keystick or hammer tail, as evidence of your work. This especially applies to such recurring problems such as unglued jack flanges, sticky keys, etc. Inevitably you may be called back with the accusation that the note that you fixed is broken again, with the expectation of a free service call to correct the new problem. Informing the customer beforehand that all previous repairs will be indicated upon opening the piano in their presence, will assure that you will not be making unpaid service calls and repairs unnecessarily.
