Proposed Minutes of the February Meeting

A regular meeting of the Long Island Nassau Chapter, PTG was held on February 13, 2012, at Frank and Camille’s Keyboard Center
located on Old Country Road in Carle Place. Seven chapter members and three guests attended.
President Slavin called the meeting to order at 7:06 PM. New chapter members were welcomed.
The minutes for the January 10, 2012 meeting were accepted by general consent.
The treasurer’s report was accepted by general consent.
President Slavin made the following announcements:

PTG dues were due January 1. Anyone whose dues have not been paid by March 1 will be dropped from the membership roster.

Frank and Camille’s will be moving their Carle Place store to a new location, effective February 23. The new address will
be: 229 B Glen Cove Rd., Carle Place, NY. Their telephone and fax numbers will remain unchanged.

The guest speaker for next month will be Paul Adams, our Northeast Regional Vice president.
The business meeting concluded at 7:12 PM.
The guest speaker for the evening, Alex Kostakis, owner of A & C Pianocraft, was introduced. The evening’s
presentation focused on the replacement of broken agraffes. Two handouts were distributed. One listed the various
types of agraffes, washers, and extraction tools currently available. The other was a diagram depicting the
cross-section of the piano plate and pinblock, showing that the agraffe is installed in the plate at an angle of
approximately seven degrees towards the tail of the piano.
Mr. Kostakis discussed the tools and supplies needed for the job and the various pitfalls to avoid, as he described
in detail the procedure for replacing a broken agraffe. Various people contributed to the discussion by sharing
their experiences on the subject.
The meeting ended at 8:06 PM.
