Our technical program was presented by Webb and Ruth Phillips of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter. Webb demonstrated numerous methods to repair and restore wood using his rebuilding kit, which consists of a separate resin and a catalyst/filler. Different viscosities of the mixture produce different set times and working characteristics. The thicker the mixture, the faster the set time. The rebuilder yields an extremely hard filler with wonderful bonding properties, which can be applied for any wood purpose - repairing loose screw holes, gap filling (bridge cracks, etc.), leg and lyre repair, pin-block hole restoration, recreating missing or broken case or music desk parts, etc. The resulting repair is permanent and can be drilled, sanded, planed, and stained just like real wood. The product has a shelf-life of approximately one year, and Webb suggests some experimentation to achieve a "feel" for the set times, characteristics, and best applications of a truly remarkable product. We thank Webb for his excellent technical.

Ruth concluded the presentation with some information on new Dampp-Chaser products and recommendations, such as the now-preferred 38 watt dehumidifier rods and short watering bucket. We were informed that Dampp-Chaser would be sending us a comprehensive chart of system installation configurations for most pianos, some possibilities of which were discussed and diagrammed. Ruth furthermore described the new under-cover and the best mounting procedure, meant for pianos in locations where active air circulation can hinder the proper performance of a climate-control system.
