A regular meeting of the Long Island Nassau Chapter, PTG was held on January 12, 2010, at Frank and
Camille’s Keyboard Center located at 371 Old Country Road in Carle Place, NY. Six chapter members
and two guests attended.
President Michael Slavin called the meeting to order at 7:06 PM.
The minutes of the November 10, 2009, meeting as published in the November 2009, newsletter, were
accepted by general consent.
The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.
President Slavin announced that Frank & Camilles will be hosting a technical presentation by
Paul Rea on Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Paul Rea is the national service manager and technician
for Petrof USA. As a consequence of this, it was agreed by general consent that the chapter would
meet then instead of February 9.
Curtis Schaeffer, a student of Lee Dobrins, has applied for membership in our chapter.
The business meeting ended at 7:13 PM.
Paul Keogler presented the technical discussion for the evening. The title for the presentation
was: “What You Have to Sell”. Topics covered included: first contact with the customer and
finding out the customer’s expectations; knowing your skill set and being able to sell the
job or referring the job to some one better qualified to do the work; the benefits of improving
your skill set and knowing what kind of living you want to earn. Knowledge gained in piano
technology can be applied to other fields.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM
Respectfully submitted,
