President's Message
by Paul Eccardt
Piano tuners/technicians, for the most part, own their own
businesses, and their incomes are directly proportional to how hard they work
and how motivated they are. The 9 to 5 people working for
a big company don't have to worry about motivation as much.
Some of us could make twice as much money per year if we
worked hard enough. Doubling our working time is probably
unrealistic, but I know that I could put a few more hours in
each week. New Years could be a good time to set goals to
improve our businesses. Here is an idea to help us with motivation:
set a realistic goal for a yearly income and break it down into weeks
or months. Every week/month, if we make less than we should, we
work harder the next week/month. If we make more than expected,
we try to repeat it, keeping in mind that in the summertime we might
not make the amount we want.
Have a happy and healthy New Year.
